In jazz band we explore music that requires more individual focus than is often presented in concert band. Ensemble playing and improvisational skills are emphasized. The jazz band is open to any and all instruments and vocalists. The instructor writes the music for the class and can include music for any instrument or vocalist.The band performs at least three times during the school year.
Some prior playing experience is recommended. Drummers and percussionists bring only sticks. Guitar & bass players need only their instrument and cords.
This program is a year-long program (October 2nd, 2017 - Jun 11th, 2018). The total cost for this program is $450. You will need to comit to re-registering your student again in the winter and spring to pay $150 for winter quarter and $150 for spring quarter.
Additional Fees: There are no additional fees.
Snack break will be 3:30-3:45 p.m. Please send a healthy snack for after school.
Volunteer: No volunteers needed.
Scholarship Policy:
Spring Quarter Scholarship Requests for After School Programs are open from March 4th to March 10th. You must now request a scholarship BEFORE you register. Please read the following carefully.

If you need to request a higher scholarship you must submit your request in writing and include your student's information and the class they wish to register for. Higher scholarship requests will be reviewed and approved by the Scholarship Committee, scholarships@cascadek8ptsa.org.
Higher scholarship request amounts must be submitted in writing (by e-mail only) and approved by the scholarship committee, e-mail scholarships@cascadek8ptsa.org by March 10th. Requests submitted by paper may not be processed.
If you receive a scholarship, you will also receive a coupon code that you will use when you register (between March 11th and March 25th). You must use a debit/credit card to pay the balance owed at the time you register. Only register for the course(s) your requested scholarship and that you child intends to take. Coupon only valid 1 time.
Registration: Cascade K8 students registration will be open from March 13th-March 25th. HEE students may register from March 25-March 28. No registrations will be accepted after March 28th. Price includes a small fee to cover the cost of the credit card transaction. All classes (with or without scholarships) must be paid for at the time of registration using a credit card.
1) Select the class(es) you are registering for and go to the checkout screen.
2) Enter the Scholarship code sent to you in the Coupons/Promotions section of the checkout screen.
3) Use a debit/credit card to pay the balance owed to complete the registration for your class(es).
Donations: We also ask all parents who are able to pay full price (or more) to please do so, in order to help those less fortunate. Paying over the required tuition to support our after school programs helps to sustain and continue this policy of universal access and strengthens our community.
Withdrawing: You may withdraw from the class through the end of your registration period (March 28th). Keep in mind that teachers need to begin their quarter with a firm list of students. Classes that do not meet the minimum enrollment may be cancelled. For that reason, once you register, you are committing to the teacher
